Professional development is the primary focus of NIGP. Each year the OPPA Professional Development Committee works to provide training opportunities focused on achieving national certification as a Certified Professional Public Buyer or a Certified Public Purchasing Officer. Achieving professional certification in accordance with the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC) demonstrates a standard of competency has been attained in the profession of public purchasing. Nationally the individual chapters of NIGP promote and support the advancement of public procurement as a respected and desirable career choice.

The Program Committee works hard to provide excellent training at the local level to our membership. A vital part of the education goal for OPPA is to provide ongoing workshops and networking opportunities for Oregon’s Public Procurement Professionals. Each year OPPA sponsors two conferences; one in the spring and one in the fall, in addition to several one day workshops. The purpose of these events is to support member training needs and provide timely training relevant to our membership. Participation points earned by attending local workshops and conferences help members with UPPCC certification and re-certification We welcome interested members to join this active and interesting committee. |
